Our Take on Favorite Recipes

Albert and I tend to be minimalist when it comes to meal planning. Our favorite recipes preferably include eight ingredients or less. We also lean towards a HPLC (high protein, low carb) lifestyle. Admittedly we are not as strict as the purists suggest we should be. It has, after all, been hard to give up chocolate, biscuits and gravy, pizza and a few other “essential” carbs.

The favorite recipes showcased on this website are truly a mixed bag. Some are family favorites – some from my family and some from Albert’s. Others are Internet favorites that we have tweaked – some a little and some a lot. And others are experiments for which final conclusions have not yet been drawn. Check back from time to time as this area is a work in progress.

More Thoughts on Favorite Recipes

As mentioned previously, Albert and I tend to be minimalist. Of course, there are those that would suggest that we’re simply lazy. Tomato, tomato – you say lazy, we say minimalist. Anyway, I will confess, recipes with gobs of ingredients are buzzkills. And besides, can eight or more spices really take a dish to the next level? I mean seriously. Does a spice shelf really need much more than pepper, fajita blend, and creole seasoning? True, fajita blend does indeed contain half a dozen or more spices. That said, one jar, two or three shakes, and you’re done. Likewise with the creole seasoning. Why complicate things? Life is already hard enough. Besides, the older I get, the shorter my attention span. So, let’s not push it.

Besides we have lived in this town for over ten years and there are still restaurants we haven’t visited. I just know there are several unexperienced flavors anxious to enrich my taste buds.
