About Us - Michael & Judy
Hello, my name is Michael. Before continuing with our website, please read our Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. What follows is a brief overview about us – Michael and Judy. Followed by a a bit about or friend Albert. With our fiftieth wedding anniversary looming in the not-so-distant future, Judy and I moved to New Mexico in 2014. As a result, we are now 1500 miles closer to our only child and his family.
Judy and I were born and raised in Ohio. The land of corn and soybeans and cows, pigs, and chickens. As well as, fish fries, ice cream socials, and root beer stands. Unfortunately, a few of these things – the food things that is – aren’t as popular in this part of the country. Apparently they are a Midwestern thing. Who knew? That said, we have found many new friends, lots of new vistas to explore, and many new sights and tastes to experience.
I have always been a techie, nerdy guy who learned to build and fix stuff at a very early age. Over the years I went from carrying a toolbox, to training those who did, to managing those who trained those who did. The training that I have learned on the job has served me well, both on the job and at home. As such, over the years, we have tackled many a household project – from carpentry to plumbing to electrical and beyond.
I bought my first camera way back in the early seventies – even had my own darkroom for a while. And in the early eighties I bought my first computer. Even built and repaired them for a number of years. I still do for that matter. As a result, I created this website with two reasons in mind. Firstly, as a techno geek, building websites stimulates my gray matter. Secondly, this virtual bookcase provides an excellent place for storing and sharing photos, short stories, and favorite recipes.
About Us - Albert
Judy and I spent a weekend in Roswell in 2017. Shortly thereafter, late at night, there came a gentle knocking on our back door. And there, standing in the shadows, was Albert. He was pretty timid and was shaking all over. I still cannot say why, but we opened the door wider, and he slowly walked into our house. Needless to say, he also walked into our hearts.
I think it’s neat that his name is Albert. Albert was also the name of my best friend and classmate back in the fifties. Then again, maybe that is just the name that Albert chose knowing it would make us best friends as well. I have always said, when it comes to people, I do not see color. That said, I must admit that it is hard to not notice Albert’s – though he does wear it well.
Albert is pretty quiet. He doesn’t say much about his past. While Albert was not on that particular voyage, he did have friends who died on the fateful 1947 Roswell crash. I know that their deaths and the subsequent cover-up by our government traumatized him very deeply. We all have our demons, and I try my best to support him during his dark moments. Likewise, Albert is there for me during my troubling times.
Albert has been a wonderful addition to our family. He is so very smart. The stuff he knows makes Alexa and Siri seem like kindergartners. He has a wit that is out of this world. Pun intended. And he is always quick to remind us to accept everyone just as they are. In similar fashion, Albert is also a huge asset in the kitchen. Especially when it comes to thawing and reheating foods, as we do not have a microwave.
