Keweenaw 2024
A Slight Detour
Every fall we have made the three day drive back to Ohio to visit family and friends. This year we decided to take a “small” detour and visit Copper Harbor. Our not so small detour was to the tippy top of the northern peninsula of Michigan. The sun was reaching solar maximum in its 11-year cycle. Consequently, our goal was to see the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights.
To the uninformed, the sky comes alive with swirling colors that look straight out of a dream. They are nature’s own light show. A mesmerizing dance of green, pink, and purple that turns the night into a canvas of magic. Imagine standing beneath a shimmering curtain of color, feeling like you’ve stepped into another world. It’s not just a spectacle, it’s an experience that leaves you breathless and craving for more.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature wasn’t as accommodating as we had hoped. Regrettably, our two night visit was northern light free. We heard that there were awesome light shows the three nights before we arrived. Likewise, several nights after we departed. That said, we did indeed enjoy our stay, especially the nighttime sky. Undoubtedly darker and more beautiful than any nighttime sky we had ever seen before – and perhaps will ever see again.
More Thoughts on Keweenaw 2025…
Personally, I have never been a big (or little) fan of lemons. And it seems, unless you specifically request otherwise, you’ll find a slice of one floating in your water glass. I always wonder, where has that lemon been lying about, just waiting to take a dip in my water glass?
And, let’s not forget lemon’s cousin, the lime. He can be found here, there, and everywhere just as well. And if that isn’t bad enough, shove him down the neck of your beer bottle. Are you kidding me? Good freaking grief. Next thing you know, they’ll want me to use oil and vinegar for salad dressing.
